Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau
The Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau opened its doors on January 21, 1995. Annexed to the CHU Sainte-Justine, it serves the entire population of Quebec and allows close to 1,100 children with cancer to benefit from the best care available.
As part of its ongoing fight against cancer, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau inaugurated a second pavilion on October 29, 2007. Spanning 4,000 square meters over five floors, the expansion adjacent to the existing pavilion will allow the Centre to develop an integrated approach at once more effective and better adapted to children's needs.
The Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau now features new research laboratories (umbilical cord blood bank, oncology pharmacy) and a greater number of beds for hospitalized children. As well, the number of transplant units has doubled from six to 12.
The consolidation of medical and paramedical teams and of adjuvant therapies-art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, and so forth-will also help to increase the children's chances of recovery while minimizing inconveniences related to treatment.
