CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS

The following overview of pediatric cancer in the Sherbrooke area highlights the Unité d’oncologie pédiatrique Charles-Bruneau’s contribution to the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS:

  • Each year, 15 to 30 new cases are diagnosed at the Fleurimont Hospital;
  • 80% of children treated at the Fleurimont Hospital are from the Eastern Townships;
  • 15% of patients are from the Centre-du-Québec region and part of the Montérégie region.

In June 2011, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau announced an historic donation of $1 million to the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) for the redevelopment of its pediatric oncology unit.

The Unité d’oncologie pédiatrique Charles-Bruneau, built in partnership with the Fondation du CHUS, was inaugurated in March 2014. It is located on the seventh floor of the Fleurimont Hospital. The new unit provides improved access to pediatric hematology and oncology services in the Estrie (Eastern Townships) and Centre-du-Québec regions and in part of the Montérégie region.
