Charles Bruneau was diagnosed with leukemia at a tender age. He quickly became the face of the cause and the fight against paediatric cancer in Quebec.
The story of Charles
When I grow up, I will be cured
What was originally a dream
In 1979, Charles Bruneau was four years old when a leukemia diagnosis changed his life forever. With remarkable clarity and selflessness, he shared a wish with his father, Pierre Bruneau: that no child should ever have to face the disease alone. That science would finish the job.
On March 9, 1988, he gently passed the torch to us.
True to that promise, Pierre Bruneau, together with his wife, Ginette St-Cyr, and a group of determined parents, founded the Fondation Charles-Bruneau in 1990. One child’s dream became a driving force for pediatric hematology-oncology research in Quebec.
Inspired by Charles’s perseverance, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau continues to pursue this mission: to give every child the opportunity to grow up healthy.
