Tribute to Charles

"When I grow up, I will be cured!"

These fighting words, now a message of hope shared by all Quebec children with cancer, were those of Charles Bruneau.

In 1979, at age four, Charles was diagnosed with leukemia. From then on, he waged a courageous battle, surrounded by loved ones. In spite of the pain and heartbreak brought on by the ordeal, Charles remained a child among others—lively and cheerful. People young and old were profoundly touched by this exceptional child's struggle and by his strength and willpower.

On March 9, 1988, Charles quietly passed the torch. Inspired by his perseverance, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau intends to continue this fight for as long as it takes.

Today, Charles has become "larger than life."
