$17.2 million for pediatric oncology research at the Montreal Children’s Hospital
On February 4, 2026, the Charles-Bruneau Foundation and the Montreal Children’s Hospital came together to mark a milestone: a five-year, $17.2 million commitment to the Montreal institution. This major donation is part of the Foundation’s $50 million commitment to Quebec and marks a decisive step forward for pediatric hemato-oncology research, cutting-edge care, and family support.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to unveil the new name of the Montreal Children’s Hospital’s Charles-Bruneau Cancer Center, a place with a clear collective ambition: to push the boundaries of science for the benefit of children.
At the heart of this commitment, the Montreal Children’s Hospital will actively contribute to the Signature Québec project by developing an innovative and multidisciplinary approach to better understand the origins of pediatric cancer. Research teams will focus on the transformation of cells into cancer by analyzing their environment using 3D and 4D models, on the evolution of the MIPOGG application, designed to identify cancer predisposition syndromes, and on collaboration on the international “Virtual Child” project, a unique platform centralizing billions of medical data related to childhood cancer worldwide.
The Foundation also supports the Charles-Bruneau scholarship program, which prepares the next generation of scientists and clinicians in pediatric hematology-oncology. By supporting the training of researchers, residents, and clinical instructors, these scholarships strengthen the expertise of healthcare teams and promote the international influence of Quebec knowledge.
Finally, the Quebec psychosocial oncology platform aims to reduce the impact of cancer on the mental health of families by structuring research, training, and coordination of interventions throughout the care pathway, including during the transition to adult care.
In line with all of its commitments, the Charles-Bruneau Foundation reaffirms a deep conviction: by joining forces, we are advancing research to bring about concrete change in the lives of children with cancer.
