IGA receives the Award for Outstanding Corporate Citizen

IGA’s commitment to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation is nothing new. Since 2006, the company has been multiplying its commitments and innovating in its campaigns to fight pediatric cancer. With great merit, the Award for Outstanding Corporate Citizen (500 or more employees) was given to IGA this year by the jury of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) 2022 Awards of Excellence in Philanthropy. 

This heartfelt story began 16 years ago with the involvement of Pierre St-Laurent, then senior vice-president of IGA. Convinced that research can improve the chances of recovery for children with cancer, Mr. St-Laurent and his team have been devoted to the cause with passion since day one.

The Mini Tour IGA Charles-Bruneau, a family cycling activity, was born in 2009. A few years later, in 2014, IGA became a major partner of the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau and contributed significantly to surpassing the event’s financial objectives year after year.  In addition to soliciting donations from its customers and suppliers, IGA actively mobilizes its employees, many of whom take part in the event and pedal to raise funds.

In 2018, the company also set up a first campaign entirely dedicated to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, the Origamins, as well as a second the following year, the Tough Cookies. These two sensitive and well-crafted initiatives both raise substantial amounts of money for the cause.

In 2021, despite the pandemic, IGA became the official presenter of a new fundraising event, the Charles-Bruneau Cup, which raised $750,000 in its first year and over $1 million in its second.

Since the partnership began, IGA has raised more than $10 million to support research and help children with cancer. A huge thank you to the company for its renewed commitment, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
