THE CHARLES-BRUNEAU CUP RAISES A NET AMOUNT OF $1,200,000

The third edition of the Charles-Bruneau Cup, a ball field hockey tournament presented by IGA and benefiting the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, took place on Saturday, September 30 at Stade IGA in Montreal. The Fondation’s youngest event, which grows in stature and notoriety every year, exceeded all expectations, raising a net sum of $1,200,000 this year to give children with cancer in Quebec a better chance of recovery.

Throughout the day, over 535 players from 47 registered teams paid a touching tribute to Charles Bruneau, himself an avid field hockey fan. The hundreds of participants, including Hugo Giroux, Isabelle Éthier, Dominic Paquet, Karl Walcott, Benoit Gagnon and a dozen others, enjoyed a festive family event, where friendship mingled with friendly competition.

The Cup comes to Quebec City in 2024

The Fondation Charles-Bruneau is particularly pleased to announce that, in addition to the Coupe in Montreal, the 4th edition of the Cup will also be held in Quebec City starting next year. This news has created a wave of anticipation and enthusiasm among sports fans and philanthropists in the greater Capitale-Nationale region. Dates for both events will be announced shortly. The future of the Charles-Bruneau Cup promises to be a friendly competition between Quebec City and Montreal!

Inspiring young athletes

Participants in the Charles-Bruneau Cup were joined by three child heroes who were happy to share their passion for field hockey. True examples of strength, courage and resilience, Eva, Benjamin and Mathis are in remission from cancer and were delighted to take part in this 3rd edition of the Coupe.
