Meet Mathéo, a little Pokémon fan currently in remission from stage 4 neuroblastoma.

A hero of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Quebec City, Mathéo arrives with a world all his own. How can you spot him? Look for the superhero fan who dreams of shooting webs like Spider-Man! ️

In November 2024, when he was just 3 and a half years old, Mathéo was taken to the hospital for pneumonia that wouldn’t seem to go away. After several tests at the CHU de Québec, the diagnosis came: high-risk stage 4 neuroblastoma, with tumors and metastases in the bones. In a matter of hours, the whole family’s life was turned upside down.

Then began a course of intensive treatments: chemotherapy, transplants, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy. Today, Mathéo is in remission and is completing the final stages of his treatment plan. Soon, he will return to the Charles-Bruneau Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval only for follow-up visits.

When he’s not in superhero mode, Mathéo loves playing Nintendo Switch, collecting Pokémon cards, and spending time at RécréOFUN. When he grows up, he’d like to become a doctor to help children who are also living with cancer.

To everyone participating in the Coupe Charles-Bruneau, Mathéo’s family would like to say thank you. Thanks to your involvement, children like him can access the treatments and research advances that are changing their future.

Meet Théophile, 15 years old, in remission from a small round cell desmoplastic tumor.

A hero of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Quebec City, Théophile stands out for his determination and big heart. How can you spot him? Look for the one who dreams of becoming a professional soccer player… or maybe an engineer, or even a doctor!

In November 2023, Théophile received his diagnosis. A defining moment, when everything that made up his daily life suddenly seemed to come to a halt. He quickly realized that a course of treatment lay ahead, and that his reality would be different for a while.

Today, his treatments are complete and he is in remission. He can gradually resume his activities, even though this experience remains a part of his story.

In his everyday life, Théophile enjoys cooking, watching the TV series S.W.A.T., and spending time with his family—whether over a good meal, at the movies, or during a day packed with activities. A passionate American football fan, he also holds onto his dream of one day playing professionally.

For him, a hero is “someone who loves helping others .” A definition that suits him well, as he would love to have the power to make everyone’s problems disappear.

What is he most proud of? Having overcome cancer while keeping his goals firmly in sight.

To the participants of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau, Théophile would like to say: “You are people with big hearts. Know that I, along with many other children, am grateful for what you do. Thank you for your love, your contributions, your efforts, and for the time you dedicate to us.”

Meet Rose, 12 years old, a creative spirit who always keeps a smile on her face.

A heroine of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Quebec City, Rose stands out with her artistic flair, her sense of humor, and her consistently positive outlook. How can you spot her? Easy: she always has a smile on her face!

In May 2025, Rose was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. It was an emotionally charged moment for the whole family, who were gathered in the doctor’s office when the news broke. After several months of treatment at the Charles-Bruneau Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Rose can now say that her treatments are complete and she is in remission.

During this time, frequent treatments kept her away from school and imposed several restrictions on her daily life. Despite everything, Rose maintained her cheerful disposition and her unique outlook on life. Her motto sums up her journey well: “What could destroy me builds me up.”

In her everyday life, Rose loves to let her creativity run wild: making art, going to a pottery café, playing Roblox or Nintendo, and watching the series Stranger Things. Her biggest dream? To own a pottery café!

Rose also shares her daily life with her brother Victor and Masha, her Siberian cat whom she affectionately calls “Billi-Bine.” Her brother has been a pillar of support for her throughout this ordeal. She mentions that what she loves most in the world is her family.

For Rose, being a Heroine means “someone who finds the positive in the negative.” A definition that suits her very well.

To those involved with the Coupe Charles-Bruneau, her message is simple but full of meaning: “THANK YOU!!”

Behind every smile, every dream, and every shared moment lies a very real reality that these young people help us better understand.
