Warm success for the 12H of cycling

The extreme heat did not stop the hundreds of people who came to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve pinnacle this Saturday for the 12H of Cycling – En route to the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, on the contrary. The energy of the cyclists, supporters, partners and families of our child heroes made this event a real success, which is already leading us to dream about the Tour. Here’s a look back at this exceptional day.

Two Tour cyclists at the origin of the concept

In May 2021, Leonardo De Araujo and Frédéric Pinard, two participants in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, set themselves the challenge of riding for 12 hours to start their fundraising campaign. They invited colleagues and friends to come and ride with them and raised over $5,000 during the day. This spring, the Foundation was inspired by this feat to create a new event related to the Tour cycliste: the 12H of Cycling.

The two seasoned cyclists did not slow down this year. Alongside their friend Sébastien Ferron, they rode from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in order to raise as much money as possible in the name of a childhood without cancer, and to make sure they were ready for the Gaspésie course. Congratulations on this achievement and a huge thank you for your dedication!

A complete experience

Although the day was marked by physical challenges, everything was set up so that the atmosphere was above all one of celebration and fun.

The participants were first treated to a visit from the children heroes of the 2022 edition of the Tour. These inspiring encounters touched the heart and put a face on the cause we support.

Training sessions were also offered by our generous partners throughout the day: a mechanical clinic offered by the CIBC, a cycling clinic presented by Cascades and a positioning clinic by Kinatex. All of which will ensure a good technical preparation for the Tour!

Finally, cyclists and supporters enjoyed unlimited access to the various activation zones offered by our partners: food and beverages, courtesy of IGA Valérie & Martin, specialty coffees concocted by Baristocrates, courtesy of Beyond Technologies, and professional bike mechanic services provided by Cycles B, courtesy of CIBC. Small touches that seemed more than welcome on this early summer day.

Golden collaborators

A warm thank you to the cyclists, the supporters, the donors, the families of our child heroes, our wonderful volunteer Claudine and to everyone who contributed in any way to the success of this event which is still in its infancy.

Thank you also to our precious partners, without whom the 12-Hour Bike Ride could not have taken place: CIBC, IGA Valérie & Martin, Cascades, Beyond Technologies, Kinatex, IRIS, Castelli and GardaWorld.

See you at the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau in July, and at the next 12H of Cycling in 2023!
